Families Invited to Tour Willow Grove
4 September 2024
Local families were given a tour today of the fantastic facilities that Willow Grove Primary School’s first-ever cohort of pupils will benefit from, when the school opens tomorrow on Thursday 5 September.
Welcomed by Headteacher Lisa Kennedy and Assistant Headteacher Sian Gillespie, parents and carers of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children were shown the school’s brand new purpose built resources, which include a dedicated music and drama studio, an outdoor forest school and a specialist cooking room.
Constructed by Wilmott Dixon in Cromwell Place in Wixams, Willow Grove Primary will operate using renewable energy, generated from the 424 solar panels that have been installed on the building’s roof and will open with 28 classrooms, a fully stocked library and, to encourage pupils to foster a healthy lifestyle, pods for scooters and bicycles.
With creativity at the heart of the primary’s curriculum, Headteacher Lisa Kennedy said:
It was a privilege to accompany our new families around what will become a centre of educational excellence, with arts and music playing a pivotal role in engaging and inspiring pupils in their learning.
We have an amazing new staff team, who will work in partnership with families and will strive to ensure that the school is an integral part of the local community.
